Opening Reception: Friday, July 9 6–8 PM
Exhibition Dates: July 9–30, 2021
Closing Reception: July 30 Time TBA

Rebecca Sherman's exhibition, Indoor/Outdoor, is inspired by the boundaries that we have been living in during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paintings feature images that juxtapose industrial buildings with nature landscapes to explore both the relationship of being indoors vs outdoors and the city vs the countryside.

Rebecca Sherman is an artist and designer based in Queens, New York. She has been working as a studio artist at AlterWork Studios since November 2020.

Sherman received a BFA degree in Studio Art from New York University and an AAS degree in Communication Design from The New School/ Parsons School of Design. Her paintings feature architectural structures and transcendental spaces in an urban landscape suffused with color and illumination. Each painting smashes planes, color, and light together to compress time into one flat surface. Her artwork is designed to capture the moment and become a dual representation of our internal states and external experiences. Our perception and memory change as the space around us changes.
